Many conservatives have become increasingly frustrated by the significant change in tune by one of their most trusted media outlets.
Invented by the infamous conservative reporter, Matt Drudge, the news site used to attach articles on its homepage that singled out liberal hypocrisy.
In its prime, the Drudge Report was one of the influential and edgy media outlets to exist for conservatives.
Now the Drudge Report is nothing more than an anti-conservative clickbait site that attempts to steer conservatives away from its former agenda.
In fact, the fall of Matt Drudge’s website was the direct inspiration for this site’s creation.
Our goal is not only to fill the void that Matt Drudge left but also to provide informative and reliable reporting that does not come with the liberal bias of the mainstream media.
Despite the change, many influencers emphasize the importance and influence that the Drudge Report once brought to the news.
“His self-titled Drudge Report broke news and set priorities in digital media. Republican presidential candidates made wooing the famously secretive Drudge a high priority, and for several of them, including Donald Trump, it paid off big,” Fox News host, Tucker Carlson said.
“For decades, Matt Drudge was one of the most influential figures in conservative news journalism,” Carlson continued in an interview.
Although the Drudge Report has changed, it is impossible to negate the previous legacy and influence it once had.
Since the dramatic shift, many conservative voices have raised their concerns publicly.
“But if you’ve seen the Drudge Report recently, you know that it has changed dramatically, 180 degrees. Matt Drudge is now firmly a man of the progressive left. At times, his site is indistinguishable from The Daily Beast or any other woke propaganda outlet posing as a news company,” Carlson added.
Drudge Report was once an ally of President Trump and his 2016, but the 2020 race told a different story.
The New York Times accurately described Matt Drudge as a “former ally” to Donald Trump during the 2020 race citing the distinct reporting change.
According to Donald Trump, Matt Drudge lost his viewership ages ago.
“I gave up on Drudge (a really nice guy) long ago, as have many others. People are dropping off like flies!” President Trump tweeted prior to his ban.
However, Donald Trump apparently isn’t the only one.
According to Comscore data, Drudge had 1.488 million visitors in July of 2020, which is a big difference from what it previously held.
In July of 2019, Drudge had approximately 2.399 million viewers.
If you do the math, that’s roughly down 40% in viewers over 12 months.
In response to those statistics, Donald Trump tweeted, “Such an honor! Drudge is down 40% plus since he became Fake News. Most importantly, he’s bleeding profusely, and is no longer ‘hot.’ But others are! Lost ALL Trumpers.”
As time went on, the numbers only fell more…
“Our people have all left Drudge. He is a confused MESS, has no clue what happened. Down 51%. @DRUDGE They like REVOLVER and others!” Trump also tweeted, even though we have no source for that statistic, there was undoubtedly another drop.
In August of 2020, the site dropped another 3.26% in viewership.
It’s correct to assume that the numbers fell even further after the election cycle and Joe Biden’s inauguration.
There’s certainly a void that Matt Drudge left, but conservatives must move on.
After the 2020 campaign, it’s clear that viewers must start relying on sources that do not try to distract from pro-American agendas but focus on healing American patriotism.
