Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota recently had some words to say to the media during a press conference.
During the press conference, a reporter attempted to say that Kristi Noem didn’t believe in masks and she responded swiftly.
“I never said that Joe, don’t put words in my mouth,” She retorted.
“Humor me here,” the reporter jokingly responded.
However, Noem was in no mood to humor with the press.
Noem goes on to say that she allows the people to decide whether or not to wear the masks.
The Governor believes that it is up to the people to make their own decisions, not the government.
“It’s not a debate about if masks work,” Noem said.
“It’s inappropriate for the government to mandate people to wear masks,” the Governor continued.
“It’s inappropriate for people to shame people about not wearing a mask, it’s not what America is about, and it’s not what South Dakota is about.”
The reporter pressed Noem a little harder and added on another question.
The reporter proceeded to ask Noem if there was going to be a “double-mask mandate.”
Noem couldn’t get through the entire sentence before laughing.
“Not in South Dakota,” she answered while laughing. “There’ll be no double mask mandate.”
Since the press conference, Noem’s performance has drawn lots of praise.
“Thank you! How about you and Governor DeSantis team up in 2024..” Rusty Richardson wrote on Twitter.
“The best governor in the land,” another user typed.
Noem is undoubtedly one of the favorites for the 2024 Presidential election, and if she keeps this up, she just might be the front-runner.
