Chris Cuomo, brother of Governor Andrew Cuomo, has now said he won’t be reporting his brother for these reasons.
The younger Cuomo is an infamous host of CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time,” but he won’t report the news?
Chris Cuomo has stayed silent about his brother’s most recent accusations until now.
Chris Cuomo came out on his show and finally spoke up.
Watch the clip below to see how Chris Cuomo defended his silence about his brother’s potential crimes.
Chris Cuomo told his viewers that he was “aware of what’s going on with my brother, and obviously, I cannot cover it because he is my brother.”
“Now, of course, CNN has to cover it. They have covered it extensively, and they will continue to do so. I have always cared very deeply about these issues, and profoundly so. I just wanted to tell you that,” the Governor’s brother said.
Cuomo then diverted from the hot topic and moved swiftly to other news.
There’s a lot of news going on that matters also, so let’s get after that,” Chris Cuomo said.
Since these statements, Chris has joined his brother in the hot seat.
Chris Cuomo covered his brother often when the tone was light-hearted and fun, but when things get tough, Chris is just going to opt-out?
Well, that didn’t sit well with the journalist community.
Not only did conservative reporters lash out, but liberal ones did too.
Here are some of their reactions:
Every J-school student knows that ethically you are only allowed to interview your brother when the news about him is good. That’s like, a day one lesson https://t.co/LxqttbWIWy

Again, this is why it was a mistake to allow him to do those interviews with his brother.
And don’t come to me with “we needed it! It made us happy!”
If you’re getting your comfort and joy from a Cuomo brothers interview you have bigger problems to deal with. https://t.co/zJBDwDwEVe

CNN has not, in fact, covered it extensively. https://t.co/20Za3CKJgX

When you pretend that an obvious conflict doesn't exist you end up having to make ridiculous statements like this. https://t.co/lwiy4z2Pin

So he can cover his brother when he thinks it's good news but not now. The whole shtick with his brother was wrong then and this is really apparent now https://t.co/LwDN5mcIUY

Perhaps this is why prior to the scandal you shouldn't have been allowed to interview your brother in a clear violation of standard journalistic practice https://t.co/EsuMDFvzHa

Since COVID-19’s outbreak, CNN’s Chris Cuomo has famously downplayed his brother’s scandals.
The network initially barely touched on the nursing home scandal with little to no mention during airtime.
Meanwhile, CNN blew off all of Cuomo’s accusations and instead had the Governor on for comical interviews.
Watch CNN’s playful interviews between the brothers below:
Many have claimed these interviews to be incredibly out of touch during the pandemic.
Some called out the Cuomo’s for their comedy interviews instead of actually reporting evidence.
I guess the comedy show has ended https://t.co/Ov4R6ikHlh

Pressure mounted against CNN once the revelations of Governor Cuomo’s alleged sexual harassment came to light.
On Wednesday, Cuomo’s first accuser came out and said that Cuomo made sexually instigated comments, forcing a kiss on the lips and non-consensual touching.
Another accuser told the New York Times that Cuomo had asked her inappropriate questions about her sex life, including if she would be interested in older men.
The latest accusation came with a picture.
Anna Ruch told the New York Times that Cuomo asked to kiss her in 2019 and touched her lower back at a wedding reception.
