Some Migrant Children Receive In-Person Learning Before American Children…

by Graham Allen Team

On Tuesday, reporters grilled White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about San Diego public school teachers that have been volunteering to teach migrant children in-person before coming back to their school districts to teach the students in their own classrooms.

Attempting to keep the conversation in context, Psaki stated these teachers are teaching migrant children while their students are off on Spring Break.

Regardless of if the students are on break, San Diego School District still forces the students to take part in online learning while migrants may learn person.

On April 12 the San Diego School District will transition into a hybrid model of in-person and online learning.

These models typically have students going to school a couple of days a week in person, but not without plexiglass on desks, mask-wearing, and being herded through the hallways like cattle.

During the White House Press Briefing, reporters questioned whether the White House supports the San Diego teachers’ decisions.

Ducking the question, Psaki said, “As I understand it, San Diego public schools are opening in early April… Students will be back in the classroom — part time — and certainly you know our objective from the White House — 5 days a week for majority of schools across the country.”

Psaki adds, “The context is important… These [San Diego students] are going back to school for hybrid learning, we of course want this to be five days a week, and we’re confident we’ll get there early next month.”

According to a San Diego School District Spokesperson, it is up to the counties to decide if the teachers will be paid for their time teaching the migrant children.

In the State of California, all students regardless of immigration status are entitled to education.

The migrant students will remain in school through the end of July.

The programs provided to the children include English language classes and social-emotional learning opportunities.

The teachers who are participating in the program are doing so voluntarily, and the program is following a COVID-19 screening protocol based on guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

The teachers volunteering in the program are following the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines put in place by the CDC.

The decision still infuriates parents and lawmakers.

San Diego Supervisor said in a statement to Fox News:

We have 130,000 kids who haven’t been allowed in a classroom for over a year in the San Diego Unified School District. It’s great that there’s in-person learning for those unaccompanied minors from Central America, but I wish every child in San Diego County was allowed the same opportunity for in-person teaching… parents and students in San Diego County have waited [over a year] for educators to answer one question: When will our schools reopen with in-person instruction only?”

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-CA, told Fox News: “The decision to provide in-person instruction to illegal migrants is outrageous and parents have every right to be angry.”

Emily Diaz, a San Diego parent, told Fox News: “We agree that every child deserves an in-person education, but why are taxpaying students put last?”

Do you believe that immigrant children should be prioritized over American students???
