WHO’S NEXT: Other Governors COULD end up like Cuomo…

by Graham Allen Team

Michigan and Pennsylvania GOP members are calling for an investigation into their Governors for controversial policies that forced Covid patients into nursing homes.

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York has undergone heavy scrutiny for under-reporting the nursing homes’ COVID-19 death toll.

Governor Cuomo was not the only one to institute this reckless and dangerous policy.

It looks like Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf may be up next on the chopping block.

The call to investigate Whitmer stems from letters sent by Michigan State Senator Jim Runestad to Michigan AG Dana Nessel and US Attorney General Monty Wilkinson.

Seven other Republican state senators signed the letters as well.

Runestad states that “questions remain regarding the accuracy of data, compliance with CDC guidelines and compliance with our state’s Freedom of Information Act. There is a critical need for a full investigation into these matters.”

In short, Runestad continues to say that there has been no clear reporting path to document nursing home patient cases by the facility after a transfer occurs.

After contacting nursing homes in their districts, the GOP state senators also found discrepancies in how the cases were reported.

The letter says, “The executive orders have only required long-term care facilities to report when they have a resident who had a positive test at their facility, but not when a patient who was transferred tests positive … additionally, there may be similar discrepancies in how these deaths are reported after transfer.”

According to Fox News, 15,273 people in Michigan have died of the virus, 5,515 of whom were residents at long-term care facilities.

Ted Goodman, communications director for the Michigan Republican Party, states that Whitmer’s decisions “have led to additional suffering that could have been avoided.”

Pennsylvania State Republicans have also pushed for an investigation into Governor Tom Wolf’s COVID-19 response at nursing homes.

Pennsylvania Republicans claim that the Wolf administration has not been transparent with Covid death tolls either.

Roughly half of all Covid deaths occurred in nursing homes and extended care facilities.

Along with New York and Michigan, Pennsylvania also compelled nursing homes to accept more senior citizens with COVID.

There seems to be a pattern forming here.

The GOP also questioned what they call “conflicting and incomplete data reporting.”

GOP members also questioned why the Department of Health allowed nursing home readmissions from hospitals of COVID-19-positive patients.

Whitmer and Wolf’s orders may very well have resulted in the deaths of elderly nursing home patients, deaths that could have certainly been prevented.

If this ends up to be the case, Governor Cuomo won’t be the only Democrat sitting in some hot water.
