Florida Republican Rep. Carlos Gimenez is calling the Biden administration’s handling of the immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border “almost criminal.”
While speaking to a reporter at a rally on Tuesday for freedom in Cuba held at the U.S. Capitol, Gimenez also said he thinks the Biden administration is releasing thousands of migrants into the U.S. in the hopes they will eventually become Democratic voters.
“That’s the problem with having an administration which says they’re centrist but they’re not really,” Gimenez said.
“They’re really far left extreme, a far-left extreme administration. People say, ‘Well, look, [Biden] talks like a centrist.’ I don’t care how the president talks. I care what the president does, and what the president is doing, especially at the southern border, is almost criminal,” he added.
“We now know that the new strain of COVID, lambda, I believe it’s called, is coming through the southern border, because they’re ravaging South America. We don’t know how potent it is. Some people say it’s more potent than the Delta variant. They say it’s more deadly than the variant and the vaccines may not work as well. … How are we allowing thousands and thousands of immigrants to flow through the southern border?” he rhetorically asked.
“And yet, if you’re an American and actually you go to Mexico, and you want to come back to the United States, as a citizen, you have to test negative for COVID-19. How is that fair? How does that make any sense? I’ll tell you what. It doesn’t make any sense,” he continued.
“It is not in the best interest of our national security. It’s not in the best interest of our health here in the United States. It’s in nobody’s best interest. It’s not even in the best interest of the ones that are coming over. They’re putting themselves in danger. They are enriching the cartels, to the tunes of hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars a month. That makes no sense to anybody,” Gimenez added.
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin featured an explosive segment this week detailing how U.S. Border Patrol apprehended over 20,000 illegal aliens at the Del Rio Crossing in Texas in just one week.
“And what ends up happening is they open up those gates — take a look at this video right here, they open up the gates, Border Patrol lets every single person through, they put them on vans, they put them on buses, they take them away. One final point to wrap up, the Border Patrol sector chief down in the Rio Grande Valley just put out on Twitter that this week alone, in one week, they apprehended more than 20,000 migrants in one week just in that sector. That’s enough to fill the entire capacity of Staples Center,” he said.
A new projection from Princeton Policy Advisors reveals that more than 1.8 million illegal immigrants are expected to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in 2021.
The group said it would mark the “worst ever” on record, which is another stunning reminder of how bad things have gotten under Joe Biden, the Washington Examiner reported.
The group said that would be 250,000 more than the next highest number recorded in 2000.
