GOP Senator James Lankford’s Apology To Constituents Brings Major Compliments From Rachel Maddow

by Graham Allen Team

If you had to guess which left-wing cable news personality would be the least likely to back a Republican senator in an upcoming election, which one would you choose?

Okay, granted, that’s a hard one because every one of cable news’ left-wing hosts and pundits hate all Republicans with an unhealthy passion.

But still, we nevertheless found it interesting that Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., who is running for reelection next year, has a new fan from the opposite end of the cable news political spectrum: MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

Say what?

Yes, that was our first reaction, too, but after digging a little deeper we figured out what’s going on: It appears that because Lankford backtracked on an initial pledge to challenge some states’ Nov. 3 electoral results following the Jan. 6 protest at the Capitol Building, he’s now got a very pro-Trump primary challenger.

And, well, Maddow hates Donald Trump a lot more than your average GOP senator.

Big League Politics reported:

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow is going to bat for Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) after he capitulated on election fraud like a coward after the Jan. 6 mostly-peaceful protest in the U.S. Capitol.

Maddow criticized Lankford’s primary challenger, Jackson Lahmeyer, because he is opposing Lankford’s decision to certify election fraud on Jan. 6. She argues that Lankford should be given a pass by Republicans for rolling over to Democrat fraud.

“Six months on from the Capitol attack today, what we’ve got now is a Republican Party that [challenges incumbents], and what we’ve got now are a lot of single-issue Republican voters and Republican activists for whom their single issue, the only thing that is driving them in politics, is this fantasy that Trump secretly won the 2020 election,” she said.

Watch here:

As we reported about a week after the protest, Lankford issued a somewhat groveling apology to his black constituents:

If GOP voters wonder why there hasn’t been any pushback against demonstrably false claims from the left and Democrats that the Jan. 6 riot was really an “insurrection,” Sen. James Lankford provides us the answer.

Cowardice. Pure and simple. Just plain cowardice.

Oh, and pandering.

“My action of asking for more election information caused a firestorm of suspicion among many of my friends, particularly in Black communities around the state,” Lankford wrote, Tulsa World first reported.

“I can assure you, my intent to give a voice to Oklahomans who had questions was never also an intent to diminish the voice of any Black American,” he added. “I should have recognized how what I said and what I did could be interpreted by many of you. I deeply regret my blindness to that perception, and for that I’m sorry.”

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, which is the first rule of physics. It’s true also in ‘political physics,’ so naturally, there was a great deal of pushback on Lankford over his groveling apology, mostly from Oklahoma constituents who are appalled that there was so much shady chicanery that occurred during the 2020 election cycle it’s difficult, truly, to know who actually won the White House.

Yes, that’s not a popular position on the left or within the RINO class, but hey, we’ve been right about things like this in the past.

And we’re going to be right about this one: Maddow’s support for Lankford isn’t going to do him a damned bit of good in deep-red Oklahoma next primary season.
